Personally Me
What do you see
When you look at her?
Do you see naïve trust,
And childlike happiness.
When your eyes connect,
Is their sorrow and
A sense of a past
That shaped the girl before you.
Trust given freely,
Happiness controlling her mouth,
Sorrow hiding within,
And a past of good and bad
What do you see
When you look at her?
Can you see a head held high,
And un-relentless determination.
When you talk to her,
Is there something beneath her façade
Words and actions speaking louder
Than her true feelings.
Determination through all obstacles
A head looking forward
Words used to hide and cover,
Actions completely opposite
What do you see
When you look at her?
Will you see the world
Or her.
When you look around
Do you see her influences.
Family and friends
Used to keep her true.
Society telling her how to be,
Family reminding her of a past,
Friends reminding her of a future
Feeling lost between the three.
What do you see
When you look in the mirror?
