Problems of the World

December 8, 2008
By Tony Duran, Sunnyside, WA

Our air once pure,
Now so close to the brink of death.
Not the air of course, but the death of us.
Heat more intense.
We burn. Some die.
Its too much for them.
We poisoned ourselves.
Yet we blame others.
We poisoned the air.
We killed each other.
We go to war.
More death. More pain.
A war over oil. Wow.
Oil? Come on.
Death for something we should share?
Loss of loved ones for Oil?!
Stupidity is what this is.
We made our own Gods.
Made rules to love one another.
Yet we fight and kill because we don't have the same gods.
Humans don't help one another.
They harm. We harm.
The sadness of our once beautiful home increases every day.

What inspired me to write this was what I look at around me. Gangs. Pain. Tears. Sadness. Makes you wonder if there ever was a time where everyone cared. Why do we do this? I just don't understand.
