A Dream Deferred
A Dream Deferred
Modeled after the poem by Langston Hughes
Basketball
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it fade?
Like a worn picture on my grandma’s wall?
Or if you fall and break a leg like ripping a head clear off your doll-
And then you are out for a season?
Does the pain both inside and out torment you like a knat that won’t fly away
Or perhaps if you move-
Like tearing a beloved picture in two?
Maybe it just wastes away because you aren’t good enough
Like trying your best to climb the mountain only to fall back down
Or does it appear far off like the dream that it is?
