Last Thanksgiving

December 7, 2008

I remember
my last Thanksgiving.
At first,
I thought there wasn’t much
to be thankful for
because
my grandma had a stroke,
a merciless stroke,
three days before.
Then three days after,
she died.
But I was wrong
about not being thankful.
Because
I know my grandma would have been,
and disappointed that I wasn’t.
And for many reasons I should have been.
I saw my uncles,
who I hadn’t seen in a long time.
My family
was all there together,
comforting,
and loving one another.
That would’ve brought a smile to her face.
However,
this Thanksgiving was different.
I know
my grandma
was there with me.
And I was thankful.

That's a good poem.. We should be thankful for everything. Keep writing.
