Broken softly in the unfurling of light
The darkness crumbles to give us life
Everything wakens as slumber covers the night
Nothing is taken from the love forgotten in spite

Souls arise from the slumber of dark
The moon and the stars
They all have a part
In the deeply expanding chasms
Of our broken hearts

We will not disintegrate from memory
We will remain in the crevices of our history
Our lives will hold on to ever bleeding century
Remembered painfully in the quiet assembly

Our rest cannot be found in the blackening dirt
Every wound we've ever known will never cease to hurt
We will receive the agony we have deserved
In the conceptions of men long overdrawn by the tasking of our earth

Nothing can be stolen from that already lost
No bill can regain it, not at any cost
The love we know, now frozen in the frost
But love is unkind, its intention always to exhaust

We've woken in our beds
From the nightmares of what's unsaid
The things that have bled
In the festering catacombs of dread

Losing our minds in the hopes that never came
After every untrue word we could never be the same
We've tried to drown our voices in the rhythm of the rain
But nothing will ever silence the crying of this pain

stuck in the shatters of our heaving lungs
Trying to remember innocent songs once always sung
Desperately grasping for the stifled joy that used to grace our tongues
While the world was yet young
