It started out something like this
Rainbows, butterflies, kiss, kiss
It was like a spotlight beaming
into a black hole, dreaming
and believing that this was something new, something real
Pain splatters the wall of life, the spotlight washes the walls white
with promises to heal
promises not to fight
promises of life, of love, of complete faith
that spotlight is you, drowning everyone in your falsehood
shivering away from your manhood
It started out something like this
death, darkness, and the silent whisper of the amiss, amiss
It was like a hurricane, ripping at the roots of life
on every corner, was separation
on every face, lie desperation
screams disappear in the empty wind
there is nothing here but your satisfied grin
it's all over, the battle has subsided
we are now a house divided.
