As I Watch Winter

By
I watch the harsh wind
whip through the brittle branches,
the trees shaking off the chilling snow

I watch the light flakes
drift down from heaven
dusting the ground

I watch the Christmas lights
flicker on as night
begins to fall

I watch the street come alive
with cheer and joy as the snow
begins building up

I watch the carolers rush to each
house like kids begging
for candy on Halloween

I watch the roof begin to drip as the
sun peaks out over the clouds

I watch the children become overwhelmed with sadness as the snow
melts and winter begins to
fade
