Upon a River That Flows Forever

There is a river that flows forever,
Water made from the tears of God.
Tears that roll down his cheek,
Upon the tranquility of the smooth and steady stream.
Two lovers flow down the river,
As the stars look upon them with confused faces.
Do they not know their fate?
The river that flows forever,
From the north and south,
From the gateway of heaven,
To the steps of hell.
A river flows forever and ever.

The author's comments:
This poem is a symbol about the death of a person. The river symbolizes life, and as the river flows forever, so does life. Life on Earth will end, but the afterlife will go on forever. Therefore the river flows forever. The two people in love symbolize death and if they will go to heaven or hell, as symbolized by the river.
