The velvety yellow dips down towards the ground
as it sheds tears
to the creatures below.

It cries and wilts away
as it absorbs the hurt of the world around it

only to be reborn after the storm
and shed tears once more,
and this time,

this time it rejoices
and grows to be a beautiful velvety flower,
as bright as the sun.

The author's comments:
I have been writing poetry since the fourth grade when I discovered that poetry existed. I immediately fell in love with writing. My poems started out being childish and foolish, to where they are now. Poetry is not something that I think about when I write. I don't control the poem. The poem controls me. I just follow it's heartbeat. Poetry is my passion. I love it. I hope you love it, too.
