Unattainable

December 4, 2008
By Anonymous

Grasping for his attention takes too much effort
Reception of equal affection is uncertain
Yearning for his love
Causes constant frustration

His irresistibility provides a challenge
She refuses to give in to his charming personality
Young and naïve she can’t comprehend
That this illicit love is not for her

She cannot see the real person within
His artificial coating can be deceiving
She struggles to see through the vague sheet covering him
He tears her heart apart

The soreness of her heart twists her chest
Pain and heartache becomes too much for her to bear
She has suffered long enough
Impossible to love him any longer

I love the use of the vocabulary in this poem that makes you feel almost as if you were in the authors position. The use of words such as a frustration, irresistibility, and artificial strongly express her feelings.
