Memory Poem

Inside my house
In my family room
Rolling around, laying on the floor making 4-or 5-year-old happy noises
Twin brothers same thing
About 4 weeks or 4 months old
Can’t remember.
My dad, recording Wesley and Nathaniel, trying to roll over onto their backs
Looking straight into the camera with their big blue eyes
My dad would just laugh at Wesley and Nathaniel when ever they got so close to rolling over all the way onto their backs
Every time they were close to it, my dad would just say, “So close”, “almost there”
We still have that day recorded on a VHS after all these years
And that’s what reminded me of this memory
Feeling like any other 4-or 5-year-old would,
I’m a big sister now to not one brother, but twins
Not being the only one who felt that way, my older sister probably felt that way too.
