my teeth
It took me a while to forgive my grandmother
 For knocking out my teeth
Especially at such an awkward time
 In her own living room
 That Christmas Eve
When I was waiting for dessert
 I locked up my teeth
 Deep down in my pocket
 I wouldn't let them out
Even though people wanted to see
When I came out of the living room
With my teeth in my hand
 For a very tall woman
 With a blue dress on
 And also a big smile
She looked at what I had in my hands
 With a few words
 Gave me a popsicle
 In my sixteenth year
I can feel my new teeth
 Shining through my smile
