Truth of Robin Hood
There was once a woman in shame of what she was.
She cut her hair short and tied her chest flat,
she bought men’s clothes and draped them on.
She went away and lived in the trees.
Her high and beautiful voice,
full of shame, turned deep and dark.
She stole from whomever went by,
and dressed in the colours of her new home.
Outlaws soon joined her,
as she went by Robert the Hood,
no one knew her secret.
A few times, she spoke of her long lost one,
the fair Made Marian,
but even she soon forgot her eternal secret.
When the arrow of the phony prince John pierced her heart,
her breaths were limited to a few.
All her painful memories of her past came back,
and pierced her soul.
But even in her last moments,
she felt no shame at all,
for the fair Maid Marian,
became the great man named Robin Hood.
