Your smile was there,
On my first day of school.
Through the good times and the bad.
Your smile was here,
When the rain wouldn’t stop,
Your smile brightened my day.
Your smile was here,
As I played in my room,
As I ran around the yard,
As I arrived at your house,
Your smile was there.
As always,
You made me happy,
Your smile,
Made me smile,
Your smile was there,
When I was sad,
Your smile made me happy again.
Your smile was there,
Once before you were gone.

I wrote this piece about my Mom-Mom. She pasted away in November of 2004 of Brain Cancer. This was a very hard loss for me and writing this piece made me look at the loss from a different point of view. It makes me think that she is still smiling at me in more ways than one. =)

I know your Mom Mom was so thrilled with everything about you, and I know how difficult it is to lose a Grandmother, I lost mine when I was 13 and I still think about her every day. You are a very talented young writer. Mom Mom loves you from heaven and is very proud of you!
