Patchwork Heart

November 29, 2008
By Abigail Dussell, Deering, NH

It lays there
Shattered and useless,
Trying to beat

You broke it
You destroyed it,
And didn't even care

You lost it
I miss it,
A hole in my chest

I'll mend it
With patches and seams,
But parts are still missing

Can I trust you again
With something so priceless,
You only get so many chances

Be careful
I need it,
Without it I'll die
