This piece was actually inspired by my dog that passed recently. She was like my best friend, and our family lost her to cancer. It truly is a horrible thing, but the worst part was not being there for her. She was put to sleep on November 8th 2008 while my family and I were on vacation. The phone call brought us all to tears, not because we couldn't believe it, but because she was the sweetest, most adorable dog that we will ever meet, and it hurt to know that a sweet innocent dog's life was taken by a cruel thing such as cancer. I want this piece to inspire people to help make a difference. Cancer needs to be stopped, and sometimes just by donating a dollar, you can help find a cure. So I wish you would do the breast cancer walks, or donate that dollar you don't need, anything to help get rid of the nasty disease that has taken lives from so many that didn't deserve it. I know I'm going to make a difference, how about you?
I remember all the time
the way you were before
you always seemed to make me laugh
and it makes me miss you more

it’s all my deepest fears
coming true so fast
I guess that through the tears
I knew it couldn’t last

I still can’t help but need you
all the memories we had
I need to make it through
the times that hurt so bad

Wishing for a miracle
upon a little star
hoping that today somehow
you’ll find me from afar

I wish that I could hold you close
the way it used to be
I wish I could show you now
how losing you changed me

One more hug is all I’d need
a simple goodbye
to help me through the sleepless nights
without you by my side

I know I can make it through
I know that I’m strong
I just wish my times with you
would continue to carry on

So now I say goodbye to you
I know I must let go
but you’ll always be in my heart...
Just thought I’d let you know.
