The Blade

I'm slipping away, coming undone
Pull me from the wreckage my life has become
My heart is destroyed, my soul is shattered
My body is worn, beaten, and battered
The thought of blood is tantalizingly exquisite
Looks like the blade's going to pay me a visit

Cut a litte deeper, get lost in the delicious pain
Bleed until the world goes away
I'll cut even deeper until my debt is paid
Yet another problem solved by the blade

Some think it insane
To want to use a blade and split a vein
It's a sole comfort in a world gone awry
An escape from everything passing me by
I push the blade into my skin and feel its bite
I tip my head back and laugh with delight

Suddenly I find myself wanting more
Maybe this is the escapre I've been looking for

Cut a little deeper, no one will miss me
Bleed until I can no longer see
Finally, my debt has been paid
Yet another life taken by the blade

The author's comments:
I would just like to say that I DO NOT CUT. This piece was written in first person for more effect. This is a poem about one of my closest friends. I do not encourage cutting in any way. I am STRONGLY AGAINST IT! If you or someone you know is thinking about cutting or suicide, planning on it, or has attempted it, please go to a trusted adult. Remember, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
