"What makes a flower a flower? And why doesn't the dandelion qualify?" -From my poem "Dandelions"

“You cannot control the wind, but you can adjust your sails” said Goldfarb
Words to live by in this society
Walls caving in
This bad economy
Living in fear of the turmoil tomorrow may bring
Will the day come or will I be gone
Will my life be the same
Trying never to live the same day twice
Trying to get by and only
Getting by
Trying to live my life
Then I realize
Things are not so bad
Human nature
Full of complaints
If we follow the path laid before us
Change a few things around
Add in our interests
We shall all come to see
How fortunate we are
To live on this planet
In this country
A place others envy
And we despise
It is good to strive for more
Then the monotonous life
That society built
If you break free of the mold
And disregard Goldfarb’s wise words
You’ll come to see that
We can control the wind
Therefore there is no need to adjust our sails
We pave our own path
We live our own ways
Like each and every snowflake
Has its own formation,
Its own landing place
We must all rejoice
Recreate our own faith
Not following believers or atheists
But live in peace
And do our best to take pleasure in
The simple miracles we take for granted
Let us celebrate all that we do
Have
And lose sight of the
Hard times
Gaze past them and
See the light
