When I write…
I use up pens in a week or two
And have a box of back-ups just in case
It consumes all my time
Because it only lets me go for a second’s breath
When I write…
It’s satisfying
It’s maddening
It’s my salvation
It’s the source of all my grief
It’s my best friend
And my worst enemy
When I write…
I find another me, manifested into words
I recreate myself
When I write…
There is a mirror
That I look through bravely
And see
That there is more to me than others care to search for
When I write…
I take control.

The author's comments:
This is what writing is to me. It's frustrating, especially poetry, but I think it's one of the most blatant truths that we as humans can produce. It is our feelings written in the only way we know how.
