The Truth in Innocence

“The sky is falling”
He whispers sweet
The innocence bright in his eyes
As he dances in the mist

“No, it is only raining.”

“God is bowling”
He declares
As the sky booms ahead
And the lightning flashes bright

“No, that is thunder.”

“Fairies”
He softly says
As the petals fall around him
Carried in the wind

“No, those are flowers.”

“Magic”
He quietly wonders
As he cuddles
His father tight

“No, son, only love”

I wrote this poem to show the relationship between the way a child sees the world and the way an adult sees the world. Which point of view is correct? The child's? The adult's? Or perhaps it's a combination of both.
