old promises

the empty shadows of what was to be
and ahead to what is wished to see
regret of mind and never a side
who the fault has left to remind
meaningless writing to promote a fantasy
past the markings of cries and sanity
a beast to remove the mask of sorrow
but this, and find a refusal to swallow
no more a song then a metal shriek
longer the strains of her lying weak
