No one knows

November 1, 2008
By Anna Miller, Phillips, WI

Behind my lips lay a ghost
Behind my lips lay a ghost unknown
It’s bitter attitude making my words tremulous
I can’t show a soul
Ice cold burns, and a warm shiver as the ghost is haunting me
As it wins
My innocence no more
And I feel it pulling at me
A tug of war,
At which I cannot defeat
Separating my soul and flesh
Making a daily plan to escape
Twisting and turning, my mind such a mess
Help; help! It screams
As if it were the victim,
As if it’s blaming me
Keeping my mouth sealed so tight
But it turns around and shows in my eyes

Behind my lips lay a ghost
