We are the emptiness
That sits beneath your bed.
That feeling of contempt
For words you never said.
We are the darkness
That resides in your soul—
The fear of knowing
Why diamonds are borne from coal.
The consciousness we are
That redeems your love
For the hatred once felt
After you fell from above.
We are the eyes
That can no longer view
The prevalent shadows
Of the broken parts of you.
