In the Roofless Chapel

Bolts of pure white satin
Cut by unseen scissors
And sewn by
Quick, invisible needle and thread.
Forming sleeves, and bodice,
Ruffles, and tresses,
And a long train
Splayed in all its silvery brilliance
Across the sky,
Filling the East.
A gauzy veil obscures her golden locks
As she faces the West.
Purple and red hued music,
Silent as the tomb,
Bursts into glorious concert
As the horizon gently lifts the veil
And kisses his bride.
