Why Do We Cry

I look up towards the setting sun.
And I wonder why,
Why do we cry?
Days are so short, shorter than
A lifetime, or so it seems.
Why do we cry?
Life is full with wonderful things.
Our lives could always be jubilant,
If we forget about the past,
And think about the future
Ah, the future, the future so distant,
And yet so close
To the days we live right now!
When we live such short lives,
Will you spend all of your life
Crying over what you should have done,
When you can form the future just how you want it?
Why, why, why do we cry?
