Safe

By
As Hailey stepped on second,
It hit me, its my chance to smack the ball past the outfielders.
I walked up to home plate, and took a couple practice swings.
As I got in position, the pitchers eyes were sucking me in with pressure. Listening to my team chanting for me, I was not going to let the pitcher overtake me.

She pitched the ball, and it came at me like lightning, but I smacked it.
A pot fly. It was all over.
But then she dropped the ball!

As I rounded
Third I had little chance of making it
I slid in to home but ball right behind
Me, but then the voice of the umpire beside me
Said
“Safe.”
