Regret

October 21, 2008
By Anonymous

I ripped up your letters and threw them away
Memories of you I didn't want to stay
I was too shy to talk, too scared to look
I said good bye and your heart I took
I didn't know what it meant, I didn't know what to do
So after all I just ended up hurting you
I buried it all, I tried to forget
I didn't realize that later I would regret
I ignored your voice, ignored you fall
I surrounded myself with a cold cement wall
A whole year later I turned around
A ruined friendship is what I found
I wish I could rewrite the past year for us
So many things I wish we could discuss
You could say I was young, I was just a kid
But there's no good excuse for what I did
I'm sorry and I hope you'll forgive me someday
That we could start over fresh and put our past away

I think it's good for somebody to read the poem to whoever they broke up with.
