My Brother's Knife
I've heard two tales recount the past
from both sides of my brother's knife.
A future that will never last, foresaw a war that's waged with strife.
Fallacy falls from firm facades,
revealed within my brother's knife.
With broken mirrors we are flawed,
reflected in my brother's knife.
The Raven peeks inside my door,
shouting things that I abhor,
whispering only, "Nevermore,"
and slain here with my brother's knife.
This murder desecrates pure hands,
staining red my brother's knife.
And saline eyes will turn the sands,
now purify my brother's knife.
Hourglass, come with me now,
don't leave behind my brother's knife.
And time will lead me through somehow,
but remind me of my brother's knife.
Besmirch my name, of hollow lies,
for no one ever hears my cries.
Now I'm the one who runs and hides
within my brother's knife.
And with this war I end this life,
with this black blade, my brother's knife.
And ending now, this endless night,
the mask born from my brother's knife.
