There's Nothing Between Now and Then

There's nothing between now and then
a fork in the road
a break a bend
a fragile arm
a knee to lend
a prayer is said
you set a trend
'tis not so cool
'tis not so bitter
watch your words
they become litter
balled up loose
found on the road
what's this you say?
a prince? a toad?
a king? a queen?
colorblind.
an inane dream
there be no need
for a rhyme scheme
it bares no purpose
it speaks no sense
a dollar is four quarters hence
a football game
brings much to say
the change shall it come your way
from green to red
orange to blue
ways of life become askew
there's nothing between here or there
a blanket smile
a cross to bare
a thought unheard -
but should you share?
