A color of shoes,
Yes I had one.
A flag of books,
I still have one.
But I never had
A rock of pie,
Or a dream of the sky.
I never had
A hat that was mad,
Or purple jet lag.
A paper of cheese,
Or a cheese of wood.
But until now, I never understood
Why I never had these things
That I should.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece when I was at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth writing camp at Stanford University this summer. This is a Swan of Bees writing style poem which makes up an odd juxtoposition of things.

When the holes are hills in the ground

When silence is a deafening sound

Then tis the time of Swan for Bees

And for the whole to be free.

The honor is the stimulation. Very good

It is a great mind twister. :) After one reads it, they have to read it again to unravel the contrasts. A very fun read. Good job! :)

This is wonderful, reminds us of everything that's delicate, simple and pure.

A fanciful poem, rich with images and flights of the imagination.
