Monster in the Brain
As I look at you now, I wonder what has become of you,
The you I used to know –
We laughed, we talked,
We were happy.
Now I see you sitting there and yelling –
Yelling about somenting that doesn’t even exist.
Your brain is being devoured…
Devoured by a monster –
It pains me so to have to sit back and watch you go under,
Under and under, deeper, and deeper you bury yourself,
Bury yourself in a sea of insanity.
You hear voices and have visions you think are real.
Your brain is being devoured by a monster. I can’t sit by and watch –
But I must,
There is nothing else I can do.
You don’t deserve to lose your mind to this monster –
You’re only fourteen.
Yet, to you, this is reality, not a monster.
I wish I could show how worried I am –
But I have always been the tough one.
Now, I feel helpless watching you with your ratted hair –
Ranting about a ‘vision’ you had.
This pain is so deep I feel as thoughsomeone has stolen my heart,
And I begin to wonder:
Why would god do this to a young girl with such potential?
Everything has a reason, they say.
Well then, what is the reason for you being devoured by amonster and becoming a stranger?
I hate to see you,
For I know I can do nothing to help.
I cannot cry,
For I have always been the tough one.
But, tonight I will go home and cry myself to sleep under the cover of darkness-
Again.
I wish I had the old you.
