i forgive u

By David Wright, Santa Ana, CA

i forgive you for the lies
for your terrible disguise
that you strung me along
with your entrancing song

i forgive you for making me think
that we had some kind of special link
for pushing me away
and showing me true dismay

i forgive you for the disarray
for turning my sky grey
that you left me high and dry
for reasons i don't know why

i forgive you for breaking my heart
then shattering every single part
for the thousands of tears i shed
during endless nights in my bed

i forgive you for the pain
for making me feel insane
for the dagger thrust in my chest
that's awaken a new found arrest

The author's comments:
Love is confusing. First someone likes then out of the blue they just dump you. It hurts. It hurts a lot. But with the support of my best friend I was able to get over it. I've learned that it is best to just forgive the person and move on with your life.

My name is David W. I wrote this poem 8 years ago in Orange County, California. I'm deeply offended that Teenink would change the byline. That's a form of plagiarism. Highly unethical and probably illegal (I'll have to look into that). You should be ashamed of yourself.

Nice poem, you have great talent. I'm glad that you are able to write a poem of forgiveness, all the poems I write are of how I can't forgive those who have hurt me beyond measure. Great job man.

i am in love with this poem. i can relate completely and think that you describe love in perfect words. if you're interested, i wrote a story on love called "Forever is all he writes" that similarly talks about relationships. great job, i really loved this piece.
