Favorite Quote:
"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it"- Mark Twain

They labeled me feminine

and unlike the reduced stickiness of name labels

this label won’t come off.

Why can’t I decide my own fate?

Are the powers they advertised false?

I can’t live like this

I long to erase my curves

to banish the femininity from my body,

I long to be invisible, to be free from hurtfully judging eyes,

from the hurt, from the confusion.

I long to be androgynous.

I scream for the key for this constructed cage of lies

for I don’t belong here. The guards shake their heads,

assuring me that my protests are for naught

for one day I won’t be different.

Although I am different, I am worthless,

because I don’t fit in this pre-made, pre-packaged mold.

My curves exterminated , my angeles will break the plastic

Requiring differences to be acknowledged ,

Then the stereotypes will fall apart,

And the pressure that screams at me to shave my legs, wear heels

and cover up the valleys and hills of my face with chemicals

will fall apart.

I long to be free from this cage.
