A Service of Faith

October 3, 2008
By Anonymous

As a child of the Lord
yet only one stone of the church,
serving my community
is my duty, my obligation.

For we are the church,
not the building we’re in.
To serve the Lord is our purpose
gathering together
to help those around us.

For you, Lord,
speak through us
through our actions
to the community around
for which we care,
helping the needy
and feeding the poor.

It is small acts of kindness,
often simply a smile of acceptance.
A helpful hand
even when inconvenient.
Serving others is serving you,
hand in hand with others who feel the same.

For that which we do
on a regular basis
becomes an involuntary thing
but planned by you.
Serving you
is part of my life,
it shall be forever.

What an awesome poem! I especially like the line "For we are the church/not the building we're in"...such a good reminder of where to put our focus and our love. Keep it up!

*This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!*
