I Bribed Her With A Cupcake

September 25, 2008

I wanted to know the story,
But she would not tell me;
So I bribed her with a cupcake,
And she surprisingly agreed;

I set it in front of her,
Pink sprinkles, white frosting;
A lovely little cupcake,
And she started to speak;

I saw her lips quiver,
The distraught in her face;
The tensing up of her body,
The memories she wished she could erase;

And she looked at me after a while,
And said, “hey you wanted to know”;
And I looked her in the eyes,
And felt the tears flow;

I looked at her distressed face,
And down at the cupcakes layers;
And at the pink sprinkles, and at the white frosting,
And at the top covered in salty water;

I bribed her with a cupcake,
Oh how I wish I did not;
I wanted to know the story,
But now I wish I did not;
