I messed up

September 18, 2008
By Chasitee Martinez, Livermore Falls, ME

I got in the way of your happiness
I messed up the family you once wanted
You are now a mother to four
Not a mother to three
So my punishment is the beatings
And the pain will never end
You know why I am crying
I want you to stay away
I want you to stop beating me
I want you to be my mom
I'm growing up and understanding more
So ask me this question
Am I that much of a f*** up
Is that why you beat me every night
I'm sorry I messed up
I messed up all your dreams and I'm sorry

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem, because I am like the outcast in my family. And I felt like this would be a good poem to explain that.
