I Should Have Kept Quiet

I should have kept quiet,
I shouldn’t have started a fight.
And now because of me,
A happy ending’s no longer in sight.

You told me you were sorry,
And promised me you’d stop.
But when I saw you outside,
My anger rose over top.

My heart ripped out,
My emotions stepped on.
Once we started fighting,
I knew that you’d be gone.

Yelling and screaming,
Back and forth it went.
Obviously you lied,
‘cause the truth was not bent.

A simple promise.
Is it really that hard?
Or was it just a game?
Why don’t you pick a card.

Late at night I’d be there,
Just sitting in my bed.
Depression taking over,
Happiness nearly dead.

So many times I begged,
So many times I tried.
But you just didn’t care,
Not even when I cried.

I knew I made a mistake,
But I couldn’t stop it.
The pieces of the puzzle,
Of our family wouldn’t fit.

I don’t want to accept the fact,
We’re not a family anymore.
Everything that’s happening,
Is what I blame me for.

This piece is about my parents seperation and how I feel about the whole situation. I feel that it could have been avoided if I just kept my big mouth shut. I would still be living with both parents if it wasn't for me.
