Moonlight Dreams

August 30, 2008
By Anonymous

i perch on the roof, writing by moonlight.
the crickets sing and the leaves whisper,
my legs itch for a destination.
i an enveloped by the night.
in my mind, i am dancing under streetlights, dim beacons in the opressing darkness.
i need a streetlight, i need a light to awaken my senses.
a plane flies overhead, interupting the stillness with screaming engines.
i am envious of its wings; i need to fly,
escape from everything tying me down.
tonight there are no stars. no twinkling dreams, no bright wishes.
just hazy clouds, like the screen obscuring my rapid thoughts.

i need clear skies.
