And Fly

There's too many fears running about
Too many tears that are running out
I can't stop them, but I can,
Too scared to do what I can.

There's the rational part of my brain,
The part that makes sense of the pain
There's the irrational part as well
That keeps telling me this must be Hell.

All these stupid hesitations,
All these annoying inclinations:
I can't do it, I won't make it,
They won't give it to me, so take it.

Maybe what I should really do
Is instead of wait for once, just do
And maybe I can get off the dirt
If I try to make my future work.

I look at the ground and my miseries there,
Then I look up into open air
I'll set my sights beyond that sky,
Breathe deep, spread wings, and fly.

The author's comments:
I'm kind of insane. The only good thing about me is my poetry, which is actually the best thing I've done in my life, in my opinion. I just made up this poem on the spot, but it's real. Every last bit.
