When You Go

You go off to war,
you give us protection at night,
but exactly who said,
you had to go out there and fight?

We want you to stay home,
but the papers say it all,
no more playin' soccer together,
no more drivin' me to the mall.

You'll get on the bus,
and Mom'll wave goodbye,
you wave back too,
but we'll all still cry.

We'll get a phone call,
your on the other end,
we fight over the phone,
our love we send.

Nine months come and go,
you'll be on a plane,
then go on a bus,
to see us again.

I wrote this poem for my family and my Science teacher Mrs. Gutierrez, whose husband has recently been deployed. It goes to show that many Marines and families are helping their country. Semper Fi.
