Sitting Here

September 7, 2008

Sitting here I can feel everybody’s eyes penetrating my skull
Sitting here I can feel the judgment pushing down on me in full
Sitting here I can almost hear the horrified thoughts of me
Sitting here I can see my parent’s disapproval and want to flee
Sitting here I can feel his hand so gentle, so light
Sitting here I remember us…what happened on that night
Sitting here I can only hear mixtures of words like maybe
And sitting here I think I feel a kick from inside of me, from my baby…

For me, this poem is not about a personal expierence, but rather trying to put myself into someone else's shoes. Like, if this were me, how would I feel.

I know a lot of people who got pregnant at an early age. My best friend's older sister, mom, and granmother had kids at sixteen-seventeen. My mom had my brother at 19. So i can relate. Good job! =]
