A Villanelle: Nocturnal
My heart stopped.
The wind snored northern blizzards and
 beneath the coals I dropped.

Light. Dark. Light. So dark. Popped
 out!  Screamed, "I know you're there!" Echo-cho-co-oh.
 My heart stopped.

 Faces; cut, strangled, cropped.
Clenching my fist, I snarled and sopped.
Yet, beneath the coals I dropped

 Farther down, down, stopped.
 Finally, heart. Hope.
 My heart stopped,

Restart with hope.  With its beat away it mopped
the gunk from mine hollow eyes,
and from beneath the coals I dropped

Up. Up, farther up, and opened.
 Watching through pane as
 the World's heart stopped,
and beneath the coals it dropped.
