Open your mind before you open your mouth

know A girl began to write a diary
on her very first day of school,
she wrote about her new teachers,
and of all their new rules,
Though her writing was a bit messy,
Her words were clear as day,
Though she was scared and nervous,
her excitement kept her tears at bay.

Those School weeks Passed quickly,
and she had written quite a lot,
the weather was getting colder,
and the leaves began to rot,
shed made many new friends at school,
all the pretty girls liked her clothes,
she talked about the new boy in class,
and about how he said he liked her nose.

the new years all passed quickly,
new teachers came and left,
this girl began to like her art classes,
and the teachers said her work was the best,
All the pretty girls still liked her,
they were all the best of friends,
all her new talk came of high school,
how she wished the year to end.

Finally public school was ending,
and it was time for prom,
her mum brought her a pretty dress,
and it was the first time she put heals on,
there was lots of dancing and laughter,
and that boy asked her to dance,
and she believed she liked him,
but she wrote that she didn’t have a chance.

High school was a lot different,
all the pretty girls left her alone,
but that year for her birthday,
her parents brought her a phone,
she made a lot of new friends,
and didn’t write much that year,
though she did begin to party,
and had her first taste of beer.

That boy she liked became her best friend,
and they kept together till senior grade,
she never noticed her parents love,
or how it began to fade,
the pretty girls started hating her,
only because she was so unique,
they sent her all these text messages,
they started calling her a freak.

She started to write more and more,
and started to see him less and less,
he had found a pretty girlfriend,
and his loves name was jess,
she then wrote about her failing grades,
and how she skipped some classes,
and about the boy who pushed her down the stairs,
and the girl who broke her glasses.

Her parents’ divorce left her empty,
and she had nowhere to turn,
girls at school started to call her fat,
so then food made her stomach churn,
she wrote in her diary every night,
about how she hated her life,
and began to talk about pain relief,
and how it came from the blade of her knife.

her words were a bit messy,
but her writing was as clear as day,
she spoke about how she gave upon her art work,
and threw all her sketch books away,
she couldn’t help but feeling,
so broken, lost and alone,
the number of deep scars on her wrists,
slowly began to grow.

She couldn’t find anyone to help her,
so she slowly wasted away,
she wrote a lot in her diary,
thats where she spent most of her day,
But to soon came the end of that diary,
and not because she had finished the book,
the last page was a summary of her life,
that life she soon after took.

I know this terrible story,
as it hits too close to home,
I’m that boy she often talked about,
the one who said i liked her nose,
i walked round to her house to see her,
as that day she had missed school,
i wanted to tell her she was failing her grades,
and how she was being such a fool.

There seemed to be no one in the house,
though the door was left undone,
and there she was laying on the kitchen floor,
in her hand her daddies old gun,
i could no longer feel my heart beat,
my best friend had taken her life,
she would no longer be in days,
i could no longer make her my wife.

I wish i could have had the chance tell her,
about how i loved her most,
more than any of those pretty girls,
more then i could ever boast,
but i never had the courage to tell her,
so wrote it in this diary,
i wish i knew how sad she was,
if only she had told me.
