- What Matters
I mustered up the courage to talk to you.
It was a pathetic, complete waste of time.
I tried to tell you that I love you.
You couldn't even look me in the eyes.
I asked you, "Is there any way this can work?"
You couldn't even give a reply.
I wish you wouldn't have just walked away,
Because a giant part of me died.
But in the hole that you left in my life,
I will fill with my family and friends.
You will not consume my soul.
You won't be the beginning of my end.
And I know it's going to take a long time.
But trust me, I've time to spare.
You may never understand like I do.
Life has never been and won't be fair.
As the wise old men always say,
"There's always other fish in the sea."
And you, my dear, are a minnow
In an ocean of girls not for me.
But one day I'll throw the right bait,
And I will catch someone of beauty,
And with a 50% divorce rate,
Theres a 1 in 2 chance I'll be happy.
