mistakes aren't for the weak, they're for the people who are growing.

I was there the day you took your last breath
There was a sad pain hidden in your eyes
Here we were confronted by your soon death
I kneeled, faced you; telling my last goodbyes
You grunted; showing me that you forgave
I pet your head as I gave your life 'way.
Not two days later, you slept in your grave.
"It'll get better" was all they could say.
My dog is my best friend; I still reply
They look at me with pity, not knowing.
For eighteen years it was us, but now I.
He was companionship, not for owning
So now my darling Doofus, what say I?
I can not move on from you that quickly
I'm so sorry illness came to make die
But I had to save you so graciously
I will always love you; my dog Doofie
Forever in my heart, permanently.

During my life, I've always had my one best friend. He was my dog. Eighteen years later, he got really sick. As a matter of fact, it was only a month ago. 1/16/13. I really miss him. Sometimes I think I hear him scratching his back or barking at the back door. It's an immense loss and I can barely handle it.
