Today we have combining of parts. Yesterday, ?
We had mandatory sectionals. And tomorrow morning, ?
We shall have marking the field show. But today, ?
Today we have combining of parts. Brass?
Glistens like coins in all the neighboring tip jars, ?
And today we have combining of parts.

This is the drum line mark. And this?
Is the color guard mark, whose use you will see,
When you are given your chalk. And this is the pit, ?
Which in your case you have not got. The spectators?
Hold in the bleachers their silent, eloquent gestures, ?
Which in our case we have not got.

This is the call to set, which is always performed?
With sharp precision. And please do not let me?
See anyone slumping his shoulders. You can do it quite easy?
If you have any strength in your core. The flutes
Are fragile and motionless, never letting anyone see?
Any of them slumping their shoulders.?

And this you can see is the drum majorette. The purpose of her
Is to keep us together, as you see. She can wave her arms?
Rapidly backwards and forwards: we call this?
Keeping the time. And rapidly backwards and forwards?
The young athletes are assaulting and fumbling the football:
They call it loosing the game.

They call it marching band: it is perfectly easy?
If you have any strength in your core: like the majorette, ?
And the drum line, the color guard, and the pit, ?
Which in our case we have not got; and the snow flakes?
Silent in all of the field and her arms going backwards and forwards, ?
For today we have the combining of parts.

This is a parody of Henry Reed's poem "Naming of Parts."
