How gracefully you have aged
no one can be recast
for a life like yours cannot be upstaged

hoping you were assuaged
now you are a prisoner of the past
how gracefully you have aged

to keep you here, a war would’ve waged
soldiers would have amassed
for a life like yours cannot be upstaged

the pain was disengaged
so many questions yet to be asked
how gracefully you have aged

angry and bitter, I was enraged
my pain could not be masked
for a life like yours cannot be upstaged

you’ve been treated and caged
at peace at last
how gracefully you have aged
for a life like yours cannot be upstaged

Your poetry reminds me of Langston Hughes...
