Though they met young of age
Their love was true
Many thought they had not a clue
Of what true love was, and what to do
They were smitten in love
With hearts of pure intentions
A heart ready to open its gates and let love in
Love became stronger with time, and once of age
They became engaged
No one ever knew love could be this true
Their “eyes are deep with yearning” (l.6)
Trying to imagine the future
She fantasizes the days that go by
His time away from home, as she is awaiting for
“Her own true love’s retuning” (l.8)
And when he is home again
Her arms will still be there
“Held out to greet her lover” (l.12)
With a promising future of an everlasting love
The journey of love as just begun

The poem "Song in a Minor Key" written by Dorothy Parker inspired me to write this poem.
