A Fleeting Dream
i saw it glide across the landscape
dance and twirl across the mountaintops
 this morning.

it wandered in and caressed me
 cradled me in fading arms
 this morning.

it sang lullabies and whispered happily-ever-afters
brushed my hair and gently cradled me
 this morning.

 this morning, it loved me.
this morning, there was nothing else greater.

 but yesterday
yesterday, i cowered in corners and screamed in terror.
 yesterday, it terrified me
and today i’ll give my life for it.

it seems as soon as i’m blindly clinging to reality,
i’ve abandoned my dreams to the night.
