Where do the Leaves Go?

On a chilly October day
When the sun was out
Laid cold dead leaves
All about

This was the job
The job for me
To rake into cans
These cold dead leaves

Yellow, red, orange
All over the now dying grass
Raking, raking
As the hours pass

Crunch, Crackle
Snap, Pop
Oh my, Oh my
The can is filled to the top

I walk across the pavement
To empty the cans
In the street
With two barrels in hand

Shake, Boom, Slapt
On the hard concerete
The leaves fall peacefully
Beneath my feet

Beep, Beep, Beep
They're here to take them away
Scoop by scoop
Til no more of them lay
